Common Questions & Swaps

If you are making this recipe only for 1 person, use 3/4 cups of milk.

  • Can I use another sweetener? Others have had amazing success with granulated sweeteners so I can definitely say with confidence that white sugar, brown sugar and coconut sugar will work. Just make sure to keep the ratio the same.

  • Can I use other types of coffee? Sadly, you will have to stick to instant coffee, but any brand will do. Also, other people have attempted making this with matcha powder and with cacao powder with great results, so you might want to look those versions up on google and experiment with them.

  • Do I have to use an electric mixer? If you have one, I would highly suggest using it as you will get to the perfect consistency much faster, but if you don’t, go ahead and use a whisk and get a good little arm workout in at the same time!

  • Do I have to use cold milk? No you don’t; you can add this whipped coffee onto warm milk as well.
