Common Questions & Swaps
- I don’t like coffee; can I only stick to hot water in this recipe? I would not use plain ol’ hot water here or you will end up with a very bland watery drink. Instead, maybe opt for a grain based coffee alternative. I like barley coffee, which is also decaffeinated so you can enjoy it at any time of the day.
-
Can I use cashew, coconut or any other nut butter for this recipe? I would advise you sticking to almond, cashew or coconut butter (I have a recipe for homemade coconut butter here) as these three nut butters are very neutral in flavour. Peanut butter, walnut, sunflower seed or pumpkin seed butter would all be too over powering in this case.
-
Can I sweeten this recipe with maple syrup? Yes. I am not sure how much you would need though, but start with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup, taste and add more if desired.
