- ¾ cup unsweetened plant based milk
- ½ cup packed pitted soft dates

- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

- ½ tsp almond extract (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 1 ½ cup whole spelt flour
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 cup peeled and chopped apples (I recommend Pink Lady or Granny Smith apples)
- 1 apple washed, cored and thinly sliced, with skin on

- 1 tbsp cold unsalted vegan butter
- 1 tbsp brown sugar , coconut or maple sugar
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- Powdered sugar , for garnish
