Common Questions & Swaps

To make fresh California prune juice, simply blend together on high speed 1/4 packed cup of pitted California prunes and 1 cup of water. Set a sieve over a bowl and strain the mixture, allowing only the juice to pour through. Use the amount directed in the recipe.

I am not much of a cocktail person to be perfectly honest. When choosing a boozy drink, I tend to gravitate towards red wine.

However, once in a while, on special occasions like the holidays, birthdays, or a fun get together with friends or family, I will sip on a little cocktail.

I will admit, this particular Festive Prune Cocktail sounds a little out of the ordinary. I, for one, have never had a prune cocktail before preparing this recipe. Nevertheless, I was really inspired to bring some light to this incredibly versatile ingredient and give a little festive twist to it.

Its bright red color, slight tanginess, silky texture, and wonderful citrus flavor notes make it a perfect drink to make during a holiday party on a chilly night.

I love that it features 3 different types of fresh fruit juices: prune juice, cranberry juice, and orange juice. All of these work together in beautiful harmony!

When preparing this drink, I particularly love the step of rimming my glass. I listen to the gentle crackle of sugar on my plate and have some fun coating a little more than just the top of the rim of my glass, for extra oomph.

Whether you make this cocktail for yourself only on a random Friday night before a little Netflix marathon or you prepare it for loved ones, enjoy the process and notice how beautifully all the flavors dance together as you sip on it.
